Ina Centaur, the Programmer (I am currently not seeking employment directly as a programmer—but, as I often have to use my skills in programming for my current endeavors, my portfolio would not be complete without a mention of it. I am thus only giving an informal account of my background and experience in programming.) I have been programming since I was twelve, when I took my first QBASIC course in the local college as a seventh grader in 1997. I have had experience in ActionScript, C++, C#, LSL, Javascript/JQuery/AJAX, Maple, Mathematica, MATLAB, Perl, PHP/MySQL (LAMP, though also WAMP and XAMPP), La/TeX, Shell (Bash, DOS/Windows), and Visual Basic. (I have also taken mathematical logic courses in college, as well as circuits and electrodynamic courses.) Since high school, I have taken myriad freelance jobs in PHP/MySQL. I typically freelance as a "ghostcoder", paid in cold cash for code, usually without credit. I am often prone to getting really excited about code, but in a fleeting way. This passion usually culminates in a weekend project, where the entire project is conceived, built, and finalized in the span of a single weekend. Some of my notable weekend code projects include MyFractal (a [cpp-cgi/php/imagemagick/gd/mysql] fractal land ownership networking "thing"), SLChatr (a [lsl/php/mysql] Second Life text-chat to instant webpage transcripting service - due to server load issues, this is in private beta; you can demo the chat beacon whose live transcript is on the web at the IC-Skins, Skin City - just enter and type anything in text chat), SLdonate (a [lsl/php/mysql] Second Life donation beacon tracking service - due to server load issues, this is in private beta, but we've thus far used it for tracking all SL Shakespeare Company donations, including the Campaign), SLRegAPI (a [php/mysql/llsdREST-feeding] third party Second Life username registration service), and the backend for sLiterary Magazine (All-browser-compatible auto-columning of text [PHP-only - in reference to .txt files of story content], and the AdBook [Actionscript/PHP/MySQL]), Primtings Directory (a [lsl/php/mysql] tracking directory of 3d constructions and interpretations of famous paintings, aka, "primmed paintings" in Second Life and other virtual worlds), and for GREPhysics.NET (a [php/mysql/regex/mimetex (CGI-compiled basic LaTeX)] interactive repository of my own solutions to released GRE Physics examination questions). Several on-going weekend projects I am toying with "for fun" are a bear-baiting simulation game in Shakespeare, Second Life, and fashCraft fashDoll—my fashion paperdoll social-networking application. (The part of me that was a TetriNet junkie is also interested in the iminlikewithyou API.) I have also had experience with creating custom OpenSim port's and customized libopenmv bots in Second Life. |
